31 Science Demonstrations Online!

Custard powder flame throwerWelcome to ScienceDemonstrations.com

My name is Matthew O'Brien and I am a science teacher at Brisbane Boys' College in Queensland, Australia. I'm super interested in making science fun for everyone, especially students.

At the end of 2006 I won a a Queensland Smart State Westfield Premiers New Professionalism scholarship. This allowed me to spend a month during June and July 2007 in San Francisco attending the exploratorium, completing the physics summer institute. This course has really reinvigorated my desire to document science demonstrations for everyone to see.

Check out the new Flickr site for photos of demonstrations on (and not yet on!) this site:

I have also just put up all the demonstrations in progress - these will be edited when I have the time!

Now back to the old introduction.......

This website is designed to be a free resource for science teachers in Australia and across the world. It is designed as a place science teachers can exchange demonstrations. We need other teachers to submit demonstrations to the site, so they can be made available to all teachers - all submissions will be acknowledged!

Of course, the main purpose of the site is to make the demonstrations available to fellow teachers - there is no joining fee, no email address required, and definitely no payment required at any time. Its all free - after all, we are all teachers because we believe in educating our youth.

So please have a look around the site, download any demonstrations you may find useful, suggest improvements that can be made, and submit any demonstrations you think could help teachers across the world. We will edit them and put them into a common format, and place them on this site for all to see and use!
